August 2023 Production Report

Morning glory vines with purple flowers growing over the bush beans at Sfumato Farm, August 2023

Heat. Heat. Heat. It's been super dry as well.

Milk stayed pretty solid in volume, but eggs have bottomed out. There's just not been enough rain, very few grasshoppers, and the birds are just not laying much at all. They're also getting close to molting (they were October deliveries last year), so we may just be at our nadir for production.

Garden wise, we're starting to get summer squash, bush beans, and other veggies. We were late in planting, and the morning glory (pictured) and trumpet vine weeds have been insane this year, even after letting the chickens own this garden plot all winter long.
