Cleaning out the Ice Pond Drain
The ice pond at the bottom of our property has a drain that had gotten clogged up before winter with some leaves. I hadn't had a chance to get to it before it froze over and over the course of the last few months, the pond raised up about eight inches in height. It had started to cut a new spillway around the side of the damn (which I'll need to take some fill dirt and repair later).
Took the john boat out this morning with a garden cultivator to clear it out before the rains hit today. After doing so, you could hear the rushing water coming out the bottom of the drain.
If there's that much water pressure with only a few inches over the drain (of course, there's about 10 feet of drop over the earth dam), I'm starting to think that a micro hydro system might be viable here.
